Design & Development

PMG is well positioned to meet the demands of today’s dynamic business environment. Product designs have to deliver on requirements to reduce cost while continuing to maintain or exceed expectations of performance. Our research & development team, firmly grounded in the disciplines of solid mechanics and materials science, capably tackles these challenges head-on. Through the judicious use of CAE coupled with extensive product testing and materials evaluation, our designs are optimized for performance and cost. 

 CAE    Materials Testing & Validation

PMG has extensive capabilities in the areas of modeling and analysis. Analytical and numerical approaches are used to solve a broad range of mechanical problems. Linear and non-linear FEA form the basis of our approach to product design. Our simulation engine is Abaqus (Dassault Systemes Simulia Corporation). On the CAD front we are equipped with a variety of tools, from AutoDesk Inventor to I-DEAS.

Materials testing and evaluation form the backbone of.  Our approach to providing products tailored to our customer’s needs. In-situ durability testing of products, be they components for synchronization or DensiForm® one-way clutches, allows PMG to characterize component fatigue behavior and to subsequently use this information for product design. In addition, extensive sample testing has allowed us to build a database of mechanical properties for our full suite of blends.
